THE BUDAPEST JOB

Only One Car Could Pull It Off

Introduction

We never realy fancied ourselfs as the next Lewis Hamilton only because our wheels are more Lada than Lambourghini? So we dusted off our fluffy dice, suped up our spoilers and signed up again for another Sucata Rally, this time we are heading to Budapest, it is a non-competitive banger rally tours (Unlike other European banger rallies, 100% of the money teams raise goes directly to Gemin-i.org, the charity.)

Last year  2011 our team Split or Bust took up the challenge of a 6000 mile return trip from Bonny Loch Lomond in Scotland to the Gorgeous Dalamation Coast in Croatia....Our team raised Just shy of £2000 in our  1995 Renault Espace aka The BadBull

Well this time we are doing in 3 classic mini coopers.....

The Route

This time we will be leaving Scotland behind and heading towards Budapest,

The start line is in Reims

Where we meet up with the other teams compeating in this event and head towards Freiburg where we will wind our way through the Alsace and Lorraine regions of France before crossing the border into Germany and heading for Freiburg, the capital of the Black Forest.( where our team camped last year )

Day Two  . Freiburg to Lake Como

This is a beautiful drive, An incredibly scenic route through the Alps will take us from Germany, through Switzerland, and then on to Italy. Bellissimo! Where we may aswell take advantage of the short drive and head out early, leaving the bulk of the day to sun ourself on the shores of Lake Como, soaking up the beauty of this idyllic corner of Italy

Day Three . Lake Como to Salzburg

Another day, another stunning drive! We leave Italy for Switzerland, and cut back through Germany on our merry way to Austria. Weaving through the Alps will soon blow away any cobwebs (or hangovers) and Salzburg is an absolute gem.

Day Four .Salzburg to Budapest

The final day's drive is the longest so we will definitely get an early start to make it to the finish line First again. This is should be  favourite stretch of road, the landscape really is incredibly beautiful, and if we're up and on the road early enough we could stop into Vienna for lunch. Once we've spluttered our way to the finish line, jump into one of Budapest's famous public pools, and wash off the drive!
